Orville Redenbacher Wright was not so interested in making and flying plane's as his brother Wilbur, but he played along and made the airplane. Meanwhile during his spare time, he was secretly perfecting his popcorn idea.
On the day of the Kitty Hawk test flight Orville secretly put a popcorn popper on the plane. As the plane took its historical flight into the air, the friction from the propeller heated up the popcorn popper and began shooting popcorn out into the air. At a nearby grade school, children happened to be at recess and noticed that it was snowing, one excited young boy while yelling for joy had one kernel of popcorn land in his mouth. Upon tasting the popcorn he told all of the other children to catch the "snowflakes" (popcorn) in their mouths. They were all so excited at this new feat that it became a tradition carried down from generation to generation. Still to this day young people try to catch snowflakes in their mouth...
Oh, Orville and Wilbur Wright went on to become famous, but not as famous as popcorn...
Now you know the true story of Kitty Hawk...
