For months, BYU guard Jimmer Fredette has been drawing high praise from NBA stars like Kevin Durrant and Deron Williams. The latest to chime in is the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose, who played with Fredette last summer during Team USA training camp.
Rose told The Sporting News that he's not surprised "at all" by what Fredette has accomplished so far this season. Fredette has averaged 33 points a game in leading BYU to the Sweet 16.
Speaking of the Sweet 16 and the Cougars' upcoming match-up with Florida, here's a commentary from the Palm Beach Post about Fredette.
"The nation's leading scorer at 28.8 points per game, Jimmer shoots from anywhere and everywhere, without conscience and without mercy. He makes BYU a national championship contender all by himself, and gives Florida a challenge so different from Saturday's gritty win over UCLA that it hardly seems that we're even talking about the same game."
The Florida-Times Union has this look at BYU and the Southeast Region. And Sporting News' Mike DeCourcy asks, "Who's the real Curry: Seth or Jimmer?"
