Plain windows
are often avoided for many reasons. Leaving them plain and empty is of
course less attractive than the many different decorative treatments
available, and for practical reasons having some type of cover is best
too. It allows you to have more privacy, let in sunshine when you want
it, or keep it out when you don’t, and even helps to increase energy
efficiency in the home with your heating or cooling systems. However, it
can be a challenge to decorate your windows if you have any budget
constraints. Here are a few suggestions for budget decorations for your
windows.

Make Your Own Curtains:
Curtains are often the most affordable route to take when you want to decorate your windows on a budget. There are several ways to find cheap curtains, and one of the most inexpensive ways it simply to make your own. If you have any experience sewing, why not try it for yourself. Just purchase some cheap materials in a colour of your choosing and then make a simple design. There are plenty of patterns which you can follow, or you can customize it to fit your windows exactly. If you aren’t capable of making or own or don’t have the time, you can also purchase cheap curtains from sale websites or opt for a cheaper fabric.

Aluminum Blinds:
Whether you choose the traditional horizontal or the more modern vertical blinds, they can quickly add a decorative effect to your windows. Blinds look great in any style of home, and you can customize them to pick the right size of slat, colour and material. While many people love the look of wooden blinds, the price is often too high for those on a budget. Consider the less expensive aluminum blinds instead, or find a compromise with faux-wood blinds. These faux blinds look remarkably similar to wood, with a reduced price tag.Window Film:
If you want an inexpensive way to block out much of the sunlight, but don’t want anything bulky in the room, consider a window film. You can choose one just for privacy, with a frosted design, or you can use it for decoration and pick a themed print. These can be fun in children’s room, as they have many styles to match a more whimsical decor that is perfect for young children.

DIY Shutters:
Generally, shutters are considered to be a more expensive option. However, you can consider adding in a half shutter, which of course will be much cheaper. Or, why not try to install them yourself? A little bit of DIY can help to reduce your costs significantly when compared to having professionals install the shutters in your home.Whether you opt for inexpensive blinds, cheap curtains, DIY shutters or a simple window film, there are plenty of ways to decorate your windows on a budget. Look for bargains and try to install things on your own to save even more money in the process.
